Preparing for the holidays.

Well the holidays are gaining on us quickly. The wind is whipping up and the temperature is dropping. When you need a chance to slow down and relax, stop by TLC. One quick thing that you may notice is our new front end. This will be developing over time.

Again, we encourage you to stop by and to bring along a new member. The staff at TLC would like to wish everyone a save and joyous holiday.

TLC Celebrates Second Year

We at TeachLearnCommunicate and TCL_XenForo are celebrating our second year this October. Thanks to all that have made TLC what it is today.

All sites are up and running.

Both the main site, teachlearncommunicate.com and the xenForo test installation, thelostcomm.com are up and running. We look forward to seeing you at TLC.

Server issues AGAIN

OK folks it seems that the Netherlands server that hosts the teachlearncommunicate site is completely inaccessible. The server that is hosting the thelostcomm xenforo site is also having issues but I was able to change the redirect to this blog. The host is working on both fronts.

More when it becomes available.

Server Migration September 14th

The server that hosts TLC is being upgraded today. We will be on a nice new machine that promises superior performance. Thanks for the understanding.

Well we should have everything pretty well set now. We will be closing for a bit after another database has been uploaded and things put into place. For now, all is well.

Sunday Update - We are open!!!!

There may be some errors. Some images are still not visible and such. There were some errors in the database upload but they seem to be limited to features that we were not using before. It will take a bit of time to iron out. Please be gentle. :)

Friday Update

Unfortunately yesterday turned into a day not involving the TLC database as there were other pressing issues to attend to. Today looks much more promising and I brought the lappy to work so maybe over lunch we can get this moving.

Have a list of interesting things to post once we are back up so be ready!

Thursday Update

Good morning folks. Just a quick note on how we are progressing.

Working on uploading the database. There are some settings that the host will need to increase to allow me to get the dB uploaded. From there we should be good to roll.

Wednesday Update

Uploaded all the files then due an issue that the host was having, I re-uploaded the files overwriting only those that were not the correct size. Turns out that that was a good move. We now have all of the files on the new server. If the ftp upload speeds are any indication, the site should be much faster.

The host notified me late last night that they were indeed in the process of replacing the NL server so as of today, we are on a new machine.

Latter today I hope to have the database copied over and be ready for a trial run.

Closer still!

OK just received the information that we are ready to begin installing all of the files.

I will upload all that is needed tonight(7,352 files, 89.5mb), about 2 hours of wait time, then transfer over the database. Just a note. We will start off lean. I want to make sure that we have no issues. That said, if you do not see a shout box, don't panic. It will be there shortly after.

Edit: In the process of uploading forum files, 6587 files to go. So far so good.

Still have halfway to go. Probably tomorrow before they are all up. Got to hit the bed for a 4:30AM wakeup call. More later.

Almost there.

The hosting company has been found and as soon as they have us setup, the transfer will begin. It will most likely be towards the end of the week before we are back up.

Site will be moving.

I am tired of arguing a losing battle. Site-ground has noted that we are using too many resources. This is occurring, from my understanding, due to a high number of unique IP addresses visiting the site in any given time. It seems that at times, we get hundreds of unique IP hits per minute, each one running a service and thereby increasing server CPU load.

Fault seems to be put on our site. As if I can block every IP out there. Site-ground refuses to take any accountability for what I see is an issue that they need to address.

Long and short of it, we will need to move. Site-ground has redirected the domain to this blog page so that we can communicate and stay informed as to what is going on. Please stay tuned and I will update you on the time frame.

Our new site address will be: www.teachlearncommunicate.com hence the TLC.

It will be a bit until I get everything transferred. Admin staff, please email me at robbiefritz@gmail.com so that we can get together and get the site back off of the ground. Thanks.

Haiti Relief Efforts

This is not the most enjoyable way to start off posting in 2010 but as you are all aware by this point, Haiti has experienced a devastating earthquake. We at TLC have several links and are also donating any site contributions through January, to the relief efforts in Haiti.

My sister is a nurse that helps out during times of disaster and has been called to duty in Haiti. We all can not make the trip down to help but we can help in our own way by donating what we can.
